Craig Pirmann, Alderperson 2nd Ward

Craig is a lifelong Silvis resident with a passion to learn more about the city’s workings and pass on that knowledge to his constituents. Since 1987, he has owned and operated a successful graphics businesses, in Silvis, Walnut Ridge Studio (previously State-of-the-Art Graphics). He spearheaded the Silvis Business Association (SBA) in the 1990s. He left the SBA in 2000 with a strong membership of 125+ members and over $3,500 in the business account. Throughout the early 1990s, he was instrumental in the re-development of the Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley. He served in multiple roles for the Niabi Zoological Society, taking them from monthly bake sales to a fully AZA accredited zoo.

During High School at UTHS, he had acquired a paid apprenticeship with Pace Development as a technical illustrator working on US government publications. His talents later took him to Pen-Art Studio, where he worked on Deere & Company publications. In 1981, he was hired by Deere & Company’s corporate office, serving 11 years, most in the publishing department. Two years of that time he performed advanced research & development of imaging & publishing workstations. While at Deere & Company, he furthered his education at Black Hawk College & Marycrest University, with emphases in Graphic Design, CAD & Computer Graphics, and an interest in Psychology. Craig possesses numerous educational and business certificates in programs independently and through his employment with Deere & Co.

Craig's artistic abilities are natural from a very early age. His artistic skill-sets, knowledge & expertise of today’s electronic medias, including the computer itself are where he built his business. In 2002, Craig went back to his roots of being an artist and being creative, he built an art studio on his private property and renamed the graphics business to Walnut Ridge Studio, for the many old-growth walnut trees that sit atop the Midwest-wooded ridge in Silvis. It's quite beautiful and a great place to be creative. Craig currently lives with his wife, Shannon, in Silvis. He has four children and two grandchildren.
