Public Works Summer Help-Silvis, IL
The City of Silvis is seeking motivated college students or anybody that is looking for summer work.
Description:
- Assist crews with various maintenance responsibilities requiring use ofpower tools & hand tools, mowers, weed eaters and blowers.
- Collect garbage, maintains clean city parks and city facilities and buildings.
- Assist crews in painting of City Streets
- Painting of City Fire Hydrants
- Assist Crews with maintenance of City Infrastructure
- Other duties as assigned
Applicant must be 18 years of age or older with a valid Drivers License.
Must have the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Must have Steel-toed boots
Must have the ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

Nationally, the number of volunteer and paid-on-call firefighters has reduced by almost 25% over the last 30 years while call volume has grown by nearly 270%. The academy will provide those interested in being firefighters with a basic understanding of safety, personal protective equipment, self-contained breathing apparatus, hoses, nozzles and water streams and hand and power tools used in the fire service.
Once the academy is complete, graduates will then start taking part in department-wide training and responding to calls.
