Silvis Firefighters are part-time/paid on-call employees of the City of Silvis. Silvis Fire Department provides opportunities for growth within the fire service through different training platforms such as University of Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI).
Training will be provide for those interested in being part-time/paid on-call firefighters with a basic understanding of safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), ladders, extrication tools, hoses, nozzles, water streams, hand tools (axe, halligan, pry bars) and power tools used in the fire service.
New Firefighters start responding to calls and start training on day number one.
Residency Requirements: Must reside in the State of Illinois and have a permanent redisdence within a 13-minute drive to either fire station according to google maps.
