Mark VanKlaveren, Chief of Police

 

Chief Mark VanKlaveren was promoted to Chief of Police in May 2015. He has worked numerous assignments inside and outside the department, including patrol, investigations, narcotics investigations, sergeant, and deputy director of a drug task force. He was promoted to Chief of Police in May 2015. Chief VanKlaveren is a graduate of the FBI National Academy session #283. Before earning a bachelor in Arts from Western Illinois University, Chief VanKlaveren served in the United States Navy from 1994- 1998 onboard the USS Peleliu in California.

Along with Silvis officers, the Chief supports and participates in a multi­jurisdictional drug enforcement group, supports Silvis Schools with a School Resource Officer, is a member of the Rock Island County Integrity Task Force, Quad Cities Crime Stoppers, Quad Cities Council of Police Chiefs, Quad Cities Law Enforcement Group, Illinois Quad Cities Citizen's Police Academy, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
